Question
@JeremyECrawford Do Dragonborn Druids retain breath&resist in Wildshape? Can a caster use 2 spells in surprise round with the ready action?Answer 1
@dantedipasquale The Ready action is intended to be used after initiative has been rolled. Same for the other "Actions in Combat" options.

Answer 2
@dantedipasquale A DM could allow that, but the intention is that Ready is for the second-by-second action of combat.

Question
@JeremyECrawford Ready: can spell only be held until start of my next turn? If trigger never happens or is ignored, is the spell slot used?Answer
@wachunga As a DM, I would allow the caster to use his or her action on a subsequent turn to keep the spell ready.
